Saxon Wood Look Resin Storage Box (Review)

Tidy.

It's not a word that either of the males in this house understand. I understand it, I'm just a bit rubbish at following the philosophy. With Mr. TBaM the problem is that he will not see that things need to be put away, The Boy is four and needs reminding, and I know they need to go away, but we have nowhere to put anything. I am a hoarder and we have too much stuff!

This philosophy is starting to spill over into the garden, my haven from chaos, and I'm not particularly impressed at seeing toys strewn all over the grass; it looks messy and it damages the health of the lawn.

Help arrived a fortnight ago from Garden XL. A very kind gentleman had asked me if I'd like to choose something from their garden storage section, and I chose the Keter Rattan-Style Storage Box which has a storage capacity of 265 litres.

Unfortunately it wasn't in stock, so they very kindly 'upgraded' me to the much larger Saxon wood look resin storage box which has a 454 litres capacity.

And it is gargantuan.

garden storageThe storage box arrived flat-packed and in an extremely heavy and large cardboard box (which is going to be brilliant for small world play!). Inside were easy-to-follow instructions and the various parts. Construction required a screwdriver to attach the slow-release safety arms either side, and force  to push each section into place until they clicked. My husband made it by himself within fifteen minutes and commented that the instructions were incredibly easy to understand and follow (and they must have been because I didn't need to help him!).

The box is very large measuring 143cm long by 67cm deep, and it stands 61cm high. Because of the nature of the structure, it needs to be laid down on a flat surface to prevent warping or splitting, and we created a bed of sand and paving slabs in the area of the garden we've placed it. As large as it is, it's incredibly unobtrusive and is nestled away alongside a flowerbed, in front of a dark fence.

And when I say it's large, I mean large. It is currently holding a Little Tikes ride-on rocking horse, a hula hoop, a partly deflated padding pool, eleventy billion watering cans, various trucks, lorries and tipper trucks, and twenty-seven balls. I may be exaggerating on the number of watering cans and balls, but the photographs clearly a show a box accommodating a great deal of toys with plenty more space available. The Boy can retrieve his toys safely from it and doesn't get his fingers caught in the lid.

The Saxon wood look resin storage box retails at £109.25 from Garden XL, that's a reduction of £41.50 from the original guide price. While it sounds a lot of money for a plastic box to store garden goodies, these types of boxes cost more because of the nature of the materials and their durability. Having done some research, the price is one of the cheapest for this product and actually provides very good value for money.

And the bit that gets the thumbs up for me is that my garden now looks like a garden should, and not like an explosion in a toy factory has happened!

I was sent this product for the purpose of this review, my opinion is honest and unbiased.
